Travis Mills Project

On the weekend of July 20 & 21 over 40 Brother Knights from throughout the state convened on the National Veterans Family Center in Belgrade, Maine to make ready the facility for SSG Travis Mills and 8 fellow Wounded Warriors in advance of their arrival on Founders Day in August, 2013.  Brother Knights prayed and gave of their time and skills to build or renovate  several decks and ramps along and also felled trees and cleared brush so that the young Wounded Warriors and their families would be able to benefit from the unique therapeutic nature of the facility.   Fellow Brother Knight and Congressman, the Honorable Michael Michaud participated with the attendees in an evening Holy Rosary, reading and honoring of the five most recent “Killed In Action” service members from Maine Saturday evening, and a sunrise Mass onsite Sunday morning.  $850 was donated and passed on to the Center to offset the cost of the materials for the weekend, most of which came from the Veterans Appreciation Fund raised from the sale of Veterans Appreciation Pins.  We extend our sincere appreciation to all those Brothers and Wives for their support over the weekend, also to camp owners Joel & Crista Lavenson, Deacon Dean Lachance and especially Fr Chris Piselli for the wonderful sunrise Mass!
